Overview of Advocate General Punjab Office:

The Advocate General's Institution is a constitutional office that was established under Article 140 of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan's Constitution of 1973 and is led by an Advocate General. Advocate General for the province is a person who is qualified to be appointed as a High Court Judge. He is the province's chief law enforcement official. The Advocate General's office advocates, defends, and protects the interests of the provincial government, as well as provides crucial legal advice in areas of policy creation and implementation.

He is backed up by a staff of lawyers, including Additional Advocates General, Assistant Advocates General, and Advocates-on-Record, who have been assigned to handle cases involving the provincial government and its many ministries. Under the Advocate General's direction and supervision, 66 law officers are actively functioning. All administrative and financial functions have been given to the Advocate General. Code of Conduct is also available.

The Department of Legal and Parliamentary:

The Department of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs has administrative supervision over the Advocate General and other law officials. It is against the law for law officials to take cases against the government or to offer counsel to the administration. Even if a law officer's firm's partner has appeared or behaved against the government, it should be brought to the government's attention. Politics and elections are completely prohibited for law enforcement officers. Without the permission of the provincial government, a law officer cannot occupy any other position in the provincial government or remain as a director of any firm.

If consulted, it is the Advocate General's responsibility to provide advice to other law authorities. The Advocate General is also responsible for advising the province government on legal concerns, including legislative initiatives, that the government refers to him. The Advocate General is responsible for representing the government in civil, original, appellate, and other issues before the Lahore High Court, as well as any other High Court or Supreme Court when the provincial government is a party. The Advocate General's job is to assign matters in the High Court concerning provincial government activities among other legal professionals.
